“Kevin Gover has a long history of service in Indian Country and has the experience to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs. His background covers the most important issues in Indian policy today: natural resources, the environment, housing and development.
“The Bureau of Indian Affairs is the centerpiece of the federal government’s responsibility toward Indian tribes. It is shameful that the Bureau has not had a full time director for nearly a year. To reach the goal of tribal self-determination, Indian people need strong, active leadership from the Assistant Secretary. The Indian Affairs Committee, which I chair, will hold a confirmation hearing as soon as possible to get this nomination moving.”
