WASHINGTON D.C. –
The U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs will conduct a hearing at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 26, to consider President Obama’s nomination of Tracie Stevens to be Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC).
The NIGC is responsible for regulating Indian gaming, shielding it from organized crime ensuring that Indian tribes are the primary beneficiaries of Indian gaming revenue, and assuring that Indian gaming is conducted fairly and honestly. The Commission conducts investigations, takes enforcement actions, conducts background investigations and audits and reviews and approves tribal gaming ordinances.
