***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Vice Chairman Murkowski Announces Upcoming Field Hearing in Alaska

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs announced a field hearing for next week in Bethel, Alaska. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Vice Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA), will chair a Field Oversight Hearing titled, “The Impact of the Historic Salmon Declines on the Health and Well-Being of Alaska Native Communities along Arctic, Yukon, and Kuskokwim Rivers,” followed by an open forum Listening Session.

When:      Friday, November 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. AKST

Where:    Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC), 700 Chief Eddie Hoffman Hwy, Bethel, AK

The Field Oversight Hearing and Listening Session will be open to the public. In addition, live webcast of the events will be available here.

Invited witnesses will provide testimony during the Field Oversight Hearing, and members of the public will have the opportunity to provide comments on the record during the Listening Session, which will begin upon conclusion of the Field Hearing. The hearing record will be open for two weeks after the hearing for public written comments to be submitted at testimony@indian.senate.gov.
