Indian Affairs Oversight Hearing on Tribal Transportation

Washington D.C. – 
U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka (D-Hawaii), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, will hold an oversight hearing Thursday on Tribal Transportation: Paving the Way for Jobs, Infrastructure, and Safety in Native Communities.
The purpose of the hearing is to examine tribal transportation programs at the Department of Transportation and the Department of the Interior to establish priorities for reauthorization of the surface transportation bill. The committee will hear about ways investing in roads and infrastructure in Native communities brings jobs and economic development opportunities, both in those communities and in surrounding areas.
